About the Actors Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were established in 1995, honoring outstanding performances by the cast members of film and television as voted by their peers in SAG-AFTRA. In 2026 the ceremony was rebranded as the Actors Awards.
The awards are unique in that they are voted entirely by working actors — no industry guilds or critics. Categories include film and television acting ensembles, individual leading and supporting performances, and the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble (added 2001), making it one of the few major ceremonies to honour stunt performers.
The Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award is presented annually to a performer who has fostered the finest ideals of the acting profession.
